Sophia DelBene joined the University of Tennessee Sports Medicine Staff in July 2026 and serves as an Intern Athletic Trainer for the Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
Sophia is originally from Waynesville, North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate studies at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee where she received her B.S. in Kinesiology with a Concentration in Exercise Science. She then attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina where she received her Master of Science in Athletic Training.
During her time at Western Carolina University, she gained valuable clinical experience during two high school rotations, a rotation with WCU baseball, and a full immersion rotation at Duke University with their football program as a student athletic trainer for the 2025 season.
Sophia is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
