Associate Athletics Director of Administration Tara Brooks boasts experience across several departments during her lengthy time on the athletics staff at her alma mater. She currently serves as UT’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator for athletics, is the sport administrator for Tennessee soccer and softball, oversees operations for camps and clinics and assists with alumni relations.
During the development of Tennessee Athletics' comprehensive five-year strategic plan, Rise Glorious—which was published in July of 2022—Brooks served on the Competitive Excellence Committee.
She also is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports.
Prior to joining Tennessee’s Senior Staff in 2018, the Maryville, Tennessee, native gained vast experience as a member of the Tennessee Athletics Event Management staff. For several years, she oversaw event operations and logistics for women’s basketball, track & field/cross country and volleyball while also assisting with football and various other events. She was the Meet Director for the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in both 2010 and 2018, as well as the SEC Cross Country Championships in 2011.
Brooks also has served as Tournament Director for NCAA Championships rounds in women’s basketball six times and volleyball three times.
Initially hired in in January of 2008, Brooks was the Director of Student-Athlete Services in UT’s Women’s Athletics Department. In that role, she dealt with NLIs, financial aid, housing and compliance.
A manager for the Lady Vols basketball program from 2002-05, Brooks graduated from Tennessee in 2005 with a degree in Marketing. She then earned a master’s degree in Sport Management from UT in 2008 while serving as a graduate assistant in facilities and operations.
Brooks’ father, Dan Brooks, enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a college football defensive coach. He was Tennessee’s defensive line coach under Phillip Fulmer from 1994-2008, capturing a national championship in 1998.
