The 2025 track & field season will mark JaMichael Glass’ third year on staff at Tennessee. After serving the program as a volunteer assistant in 2023, Glass was promoted to a full-time role for the 2024 campaign.
Glass works alongside head coach Duane Ross and assistant coach Ron Garner in developing Tennessee’s sprinters, hurdlers and relay squads. He also collaborates with sports performance coach Barry Cain in the weight room, assisting in all facets of strength and conditioning.
In his first two years on Rocky Top, Glass guided Tennessee's stable of sprinters and hurdlers to 10 school records, 54 All-America certificates and 17 SEC medal-winning performances. In 2024, the Lady Vols set school records and captured conference titles in both the 4x100 (42.42) and 4x400 (3:24.44) relays at the SEC Outdoor Championships. The women's 4x400-meter group went on to place second at the outdoor national meet with a time of 3:23.32 — the No. 6 program record in NCAA history.
Individual standouts during Glass' tenure in Knoxville include Lady Vol track star Jacious Sears, Olympic finalist Clement Ducos and sub-10 speedster T'Mars McCallum. Sears was named the USTFCCCA South Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and SEC Commissioner’s Trophy recipient in 2023 and went on to run a monumental 10.77-second 100-meter dash in April 2024, registering the No. 2 mark in collegiate history and becoming the No. 7 performer on the U.S. all-time list. Ducos took down Tennessee's school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 48.26 in 2024 and went on to place fourth at the Paris Olympics for France with a mark of 47.76 in the final — narrowly missing an Olympic medal. Additionally, McCallum cracked the 10-second barrier in the men's 100-meter dash with a wind-legal time of 9.94 during the 2024 outdoor season and eventually claimed SEC bronze in the event with a time of 10.03 in the conference final.
Glass worked with Ross during the 2021-22 season at North Carolina A&T as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, overseeing and implementing workouts for both Aggie track & field teams. He traveled to all competitions and assisted with warmups while completing administrative duties.
A USATF Level 1 certified coach, Glass graduated from Milligan (Tenn.) University in May of 2019 with his B.S. in Exercise Science. He served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University from 2019-21, developing workout plans for the swimming, men’s volleyball and football teams while complete his Master of Organizational Leadership degree.
