KNOXVILLE, TN - May 2026 will be remembered as one of the most significant and successful months for events hosted on the University of Tennessee campus as world-class entertainment and university celebrations brought tens of thousands of visitors to Knoxville while generating national exposure for the University. Throughout the month, the University of Tennessee leveraged its premier facilities to host a diverse calendar of events that showcased the campus as one of the nation's leading destination for entertainment and community engagement.Â

Food City Center Anchors Historic Month
Food City Center served as the focal point of activity throughout May, continuing its emergence as one of the top premiere multi-purpose venues in the Southeast. Food City Center welcomed thousands of visitors to campus through a combination of major entertainment events and University programming.Â
The month began with WWE Monday Night RAW on Monday, May 11, 2026, bringing one of sport entertainment's most recognizable brands to Knoxville and attracting fans from across the region. As part of WWE's new global distribution partnership, RAW streamed live on Netflix, providing Food City Center with worldwide visibility and placing the University of Tennessee brand before an international audience. The event represented a significant milestone for the venue, highlighting its ability to host globally recognized productions and further elevate Knoxville's profile as a destination for major live events.Â
The arena welcomed one of the country's most popular comedians, Nate Bargatze, to the Food City Center stage on Thursday, May 28, 2026. A Tennessee native and one of the most successful stand-up comedians in the world, Bargatze drew a crowd of 17,000+ fans to the arena, further strengthening Food City Center's growing reputation in the comedy scene. The month concluded with a fantastic performance by JOURNEY as part of their farewell tour on Saturday, May 30, 2026.Â
Food City Center hosted over 40,000+ guests between WWE Monday Night RAW, Nate Bargatze, and JOURNEY.Â
In addition to its entertainment lineup, Food City Center hosted the University of Tennessee Spring 2026 Commencement ceremonies with an attendance of over 61,000 graduates and guests.Â

Neyland Stadium Continues to Expand Its ImpactÂ
Beyond serving as the home for Tennessee Football, Neyland Stadium continues to demonstrate its versatility during May by hosting country music superstar Luke Combs and the world famous Savannah Bananas.Â
Luke Combs performed to a crowd of 92,045 fans in Neyland Stadium on Saturday, May 2, 2026, establishing a new single-show attendance record for the stadium. Combs surpassed the previous record set by Garth Brooks in 2019 and further cemented Neyland Stadium's status as an elite concert venue. Fans traveled from all over the country to attend this event. Just three weeks later, the Savannah Bananas brought Banana Ball to Rocky Top on Saturday, May 23, 2026. In one of the most unique events ever hosted in Neyland Stadium, a sold-out crowd of 101,915 fans filled the stadium and made this event one of the largest attended Banana Ball events in history.Â
Together, the Luke Combs concert and Savannah Bananas event brought over 193,000 attendees to Neyland Stadium during the month of May alone. The unprecedented level of activity demonstrates the growing value of Neyland Stadium as a year-round destination for major entertainment and special events, creating significant economic impact for the Knoxville community while enhancing the national visibility of both Tennessee Athletics and the University of Tennessee.
