Compliance Internships
Position Summary: On an annual basis, the University of Tennessee Athletics Department offers a compliance intern/externship. The goal of the program is to provide the intern/extern with real-world experience detailing the inner workings of a Division I-FBS Athletics Compliance Office over the course of 15-20+ hours per week. The internship will cover various aspects of NCAA and SEC compliance with an emphasis on monitoring. The intern will work closely with full-time staff and will gain experience in recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, awards and benefits, playing and practice seasons and other administrative roles/data entry as needed. Interns/externs will also be expected to work athletics events on nights and weekends.
Qualifications: This is an entry level, career-based internship and is intended for professional development of applicants who have a vested interest in athletics compliance. Previous experience is not required, but candidates who wish to learn more about compliance and pursue a career in college athletics are preferred. The Compliance Office will support students seeking academic credit for their committed hours, if applicable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills as well as an understanding of and commitment to confidentiality in their work.
Timing: Internship positions are appointed on an annual basis (with the possibility of renewal).
