LADY VOL TENNIS SIGNS TWO NATIONALLY-RANKED PLAYERS
Vogel and Whoriskey To Play For Big Orange In 2006-07

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis co-head coaches Mike Patrick and Sonia Hahn-Patrick announced the signings of two student-athletes to national letters of intent on Wednesday. Connor Vogel (Germantown, Tenn. / Germantown H.S.) and Caitlin Whoriskey (Boca Raton, Fla. / University of Miami Online H.S.) will join the Lady Vols for the 2006-07 season.
Vogel was a Tennessee state qualifying finalist and the state qualifying double champion her senior year of high school. She was the singles state and region champion in 2003 and was honored as the best singles and doubles player by the Germantown High School team her first three seasons. Vogel is ranked 97th in the 2005 TennisInformation.com college recruiting list. She also participated on the cross country and track & field teams and was a cheerleader as well.
Whoriskey is No. 45 on the 2005 TennisInformation.com national junior standings. She has won three ITF doubles titles and was an ITF singles finalist in Mexico. The future Lady Vol finished second place in doubles at the USTA Clay Courts and was third in doubles at the USTA Hard Courts.
The Lady Vols next see action at the UNLV Tournament from Jan. 13-16. Their first dual match of the season will occur at noon on Jan. 21 as UT plays host to North Carolina.
