He reports directly to Athletics Directors Mike Hamilton and Joan Cronan, with oversight responsibilities in budgeting, coordination of accounting, financial and capital expenditures, management of cash flow and risk management. He also handles internal and external audits of financial information, as well as oversees the information technology department and the management of the Athletics Board.
A native of Seymour, Tenn., Myers came to UT in July 1998, and subsequently served two years as assistant director of development before assuming the role of associate director from January 2000 to May 2001. During his fundraising years, he managed the Volunteer Athletic Scholarship Fund, assisted in ticket assignment, oversaw the Collegiate Club and worked with the Big Orange Caravan.
Myers held the post of director of annual giving from May 2001 to August 2002, managing the VASF to an all-time giving high of 13.26 million dollars and overseeing daily operations of the annual giving program. He was named assistant athletics director for development in August 2002, with oversight of the office of assistant director of development and five student workers in the development office.
A 1992 UT graduate in business administration and finance, Myers also earned his master's degree from Tennessee in education, human performance and sports studies in 1997. He is married to the former Rachel Keys of Gray, Tenn., and they have three daughters, Kate, Anne Claire, and Lauren.
