On Thursday night in the Bronx, #VFL Chase Headley delivered yet another walk-off victory for his New York Yankees, belting a solo homer to right-center field in the ninth to lift the Yanks to a 5-4 win over Boston. After being traded to New York from his long-time team in San Diego this summer, Headley also hit a walk-off single in his first-ever game wearing the pinstripes.
With the win, New York now remains four games back of the Detroit Tigers in the American League's second Wild Card race.
"I actually knew everybody's name this time," Headley told MLB.com following the game. "Every one is fun. There's not a whole lot of better feelings in sports and in baseball than getting a walk-off hit. Obviously the circumstances that we're in right now, we've got to win every game that we play. That's our mentality. Big, big win."
