Fortunately there are Tennessee fans like Mark Aubrey, who runs www.oldknoxvillebaseball.blogspot.com, an online repository for his research regarding the history of baseball in East Tennessee.
Most recently, Aubrey uncovered an article (pictured below) from "The Journal and Tribune," a Knoxville paper which was published from 1898-1924. The story provided a date for a long-forgotten game against Johnson Bible College. Because of Aubrey's research, we now know that the contest took place on April 17, 1917.Â
While just one piece in the very long process of creating a complete history of Tennessee baseball, Aubrey's research helped us get one step closer.Â
