Smith quickly defeated sixth-seeded Adam El Mihdawy 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals at the Polo Tennis Club in the second meeting between the two players in a month.
He plays eighth-seeded Peter Polansky of Canada in the championship. Polansky defeated former Florida Gator Alexandre Lacroix 6-3, 6-3 in his semifinal match.
Smith captured his first professional singles title in July in Tulsa, Okla., and is looking to become the first Vol from the 2011 squad to win a Futures title at the $15,000 level. Rhyne Williams reached the final of the Tevlin Family Futures in Toronto, Canada, last month.
In Saturday's doubles, Smith and Ben Rogers' nine-match winning streak came to an end as the two lost 7-6 (7), 6-2 to Chris Eaton and Ed Corrie in the doubles final.Â
