He faces unseeded Kiryl Harbatsuik in Saturday's semifinals. Harbatsuik, a Sacramento State player who reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships last season, ousted seventh-seeded John Peers in straight sets to reach the semifinals.

Sandgren is easily on the pro winning streak of his career, having won eight consecutive matches and picking up his first Futures singles title last week in Godfrey. He has a 10-2 record so far this summer and was a quarterfinalist at the Futures event in Rochester, N.Y., in July.

Winning streaks are nothing new to Sandgren, who won 18 matches in a row while playing at the No. 3 position for the Vols as a sophomore. He ended his second collegiate season with a 37-7 record and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championships.
