Week 1 of the 2015-16 NFL season is in the books and 23 #NFLVols were in action over the weekend. Here are some of the highlights from your favorite VFLs:
#welcomEBack

Eric Berry's remarkable and inspiring return to football reached another milestone on Sunday when he played 48 of the 77 defensive snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs in their season-opening win over the Houston Texans. Berry logged two tackles and one pass defended in his first NFL regular season game since November of 2014 after being diagnosed with lymphoma. After several months of treatment, Berry was declared cancer-free on June 22, 2015.
WITTEN IN THE CLUTCH

VFL and Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten came up big when it mattered the most, scoring the game-winning touchdown in a topsy-turvy matchup with the New York Giants on Sunday night. Witten hauled in an 11-yard pass from Tony Romo with just seven seconds remaining on the clock to lift the Cowboys to the win. The Elizabethton, Tennessee, native also had a one-yard TD reception earlier in the fourth quarter to pull Dallas within 23-20 of the Giants. It was the fifth two-touchdown game of his career.
ANOTHER MANNING 'W'

With Denver's 19-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Peyton Manning collected the 180th win in his NFL career. He is now just six wins away from tying Brett Favre for the most victories by a starting quarterback in NFL history. Manning will get one step closer to that milestone when he leads the Broncos against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football this week. The AFC West rivalry looks a bit of a VFL reunion as Broncos and former Vols Manning, Malik Jackson, and Britton Colquitt meet fellow UT standouts Eric Berry, Dustin Colquitt, and Zach Fulton on the Chiefs.
