Merritt, a 2007 graduate of UT, is the current world record holder in the 110m hurdles -- an event in which he won a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. While at Tennessee, he finished undefeated in every hurdles event in 2006 and went on to claim the 110m hurdles title at the NCAA Championships.Â
Meanwhile, Trotter is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400m relay (2004 and 2008) and won a bronze in the 400m at the 2012 London Olympics -- her first individual Olympic medal. She was the 2004 Outdoor NCAA 400m Champion after finishing runner-up in the same event in 2003.Â
