SHOOTOUT OF THE AGES
In what CBS says was the highest-rated NFL game this season on any network, Peyton Manning and the Broncos got the best of the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon in an instant classic.
Manning was 32-of-44 on the day with 414 yards passing and four touchdowns and one interception.
Manning's streak of consecutive passes without an INT ended at 226 on Sunday after beginning the season throwing for 21 TDs and 0 INTs to begin the year. That mark ranked second in Broncos history behind Jake Plummer, 229 in 2005).
His 20 touchdown passes through five games are the most in NFL history.
Manning's marked his 25th career game with four touchdown passes, marking the most in NFL history
Manning also rushed for a touchdown on the day, his 21st career rushing touchdown, and first since 10/27/08 at Tennessee.
Manning leads the NFL in passing yards in the 2013 season with 1,884
For the Cowboys, tight end Jason Witten finished with seven catches for 121 yards and a touchdown
TAKING THEM DOWN
Kevin Burnett's 14 tackles against San Diego were the third most in the NFL during week five behind Sean Lee of Dallas and Ryan Mundy of the New York Giants.
The game marked the 11th career double digit tackle game of Burnett's career and tied his career best 14 tackles set previously on January 1, 2012 against the New York Jets.
Burnett also added an 11 yard sack and a forced fumble on the day to help Oakland to its second win of the season.
Also with a double digit tackle effort on the weekend was Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots.
Mayo notched 11 tackles to go along with a half a sack, a pass defended and a fumble recovery.
Mayo ranks in a tie for fourth in the NFL the season in total tackles with 49 behind Lance Briggs (Chicago, 51), Sean Lee (Dallas, 50) and Vontaze Burfict (Cincinnati, 50).
