WITTEN HITS 800-RECEPTION MARK
Â
After setting the NFL record for catches in a season by a tight end with 103 last weekend, this week was another record for former Vols star Jason Witten. Witten reached the 800 reception plateau in 159 games, the fastest NFL tight end to make 800 catches.
Â
He became the third NFL tight end to make 800 catches and just the 26th ever NFL player to achieve the feat.
Â
Last week, Witten also became the second Tennessee product with 100 catches in a season joining Carl Pickens, who had 100 catches in 1996 with the Cincinnati Bengals. Witten now holds the record for most catches by a former Vol in a season with 103.

RECORD SETTING MANNING
After recording his 64th 300-yard passing game against Houston at the beginning of the NFL season, Peyton Manning notched his 72nd 300-yard game of his career growing his NFL record in a win over Kansas City to solidify home field advantage in the 2012 playoffs. The ninth 300-yard game tied a career-best and set a team record.
Â
Manning also threw for three touchdowns, the 73rd time in his career that he achieved that feat, passing Brett Favre for the NFL record. Â His 37 touchdowns this season are the most by a quarterback 36 or older.
Â
Manning finished the regular season with a 84.1 Total quarterback rating. The only player better in last five seasons was Aaron Rodgers who had an 86.2 rating last season.
Â
It was his ninth 300-yard game of the season as his passing yards total improved to 4,659 yards, the second-highest passing total in his career and a Broncos record. Manning now holds single-season records for passing yards, completions, touchdowns and passer rating.
