Lewis Going Into Ravens Ring Of Honor

Former Vols star back Jamal Lewis will become the sixth player to enter the Baltimore Ravens Ring Of Honor on Thursday night when the Browns come to the Charm City. Lewis, drafted by Baltimore with the fifth overall pick out of Tennessee in 2000, played with the Ravens for seven seasons. With Baltimore, Lewis rushed the ball 1,822 times for 7,801 yards. Both are franchise records.

In 2003, Lewis ran for 2,066 yards, the most for any Ravens player in a single season. It also ranks second in league history, behind Eric Dickerson's 2,105 total in 1984. He finished his 10-year career with 10,607 rushing yards, which ranks 21st in NFL history.

Lewis' 2000 performance as a rookie helped lead Baltimore to a Super Bowl championship as he ran for 1,364 yards.

"The reason why we were able to win the Super Bowl in 2000 was because of Jamal Lewis," general manager Ozzie Newsome said.
