Strahm Shatters School Vault Record at Doc Hale Invite
February 07, 2026 | Track & Field
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee sophomore Mya Strahm etched her name into the record books Saturday afternoon at the Doc Hale Invitational, clearing a lifetime-best 4.47 meters (14-8) in the women's pole vault. Her performance broke the Lady Vol school record by one centimeter and currently ranks eighth on the 2025-26 national list.
After setting the program's freshman record at 4.42 meters (14-6) last season, Strahm surpassed the previous overall program standard of 4.46 meters (14-7.5), which was set last season by former teammate and 2025 Lady Vol graduate Sarah Schmitt.
Strahm's showing highlighted a day that saw the Big Orange record three NCAA top-eight performances across the Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia, and the Windy City Invitational in Chicago. At Virginia Tech, sophomore JL Van Rensburg posted a personal-best throw of 19.83 meters (65-0.75) in the men's shot put, ranking third in the NCAA this season and third in program history. In Chicago, Lady Vol graduate student Myreanna Bebe turned in a season-best performance to win the women's 60-meter hurdles final, clocking 8.06 to rank sixth nationally.
In addition to Strahm's record-breaking effort, Lady Vol junior Skye Tolbert also recorded a personal best in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 4.37 meters (14-4). That mark ranks third on Tennessee's all-time indoor list and 15th on the current NCAA Division I leaderboard.
Junior Grant Campbell opened Saturday's action with a victory in the men's high jump at Virginia Tech, equaling his season best with a clearance of 2.14 meters (7-0.25). John Robinson IV also picked up a win for the Vols in the men's 200 meters, crossing the line in 21.51.
