KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee head diving coach Jane Figueiredo has been inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the organization announced. Figueiredo will be one of 11 honorees that will be inducted as part of the Class of 2026 at the ISHOF's 61st Annual Honoree Induction Ceremony on May 16.
"I'm honored to be inducted into something so prestigious as the international hall of fame of swimming and diving", said head diving coach Figueiredo. "It's a dream for athletes, for coaches, and to be inducted is an absolute privilege and thank you to all that voted for me. I have visited the International Swimming Hall of Fame all of my life and feel very proud and very privileged to now be part of it. I want to say a humongous thank you to all my divers that have allowed me to be where I am today and hence be the recipient of all these wonderful awards. A big thank you to my divers, to my family, and everybody who has been on my journey."
Prior to joining the Vols and Lady Vols, Figueiredo spent 11 years with Aquatics GB as the High Performance Coach/Director and Head Coach of Dive London. She coached the British Diving Senior Team members at all international, World, and Olympic level competitions. Before arriving in London, Figueiredo coached at her alma mater the University of Houston for 24 seasons and was the Russian National Team coach during the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Games.
Figueiredo most recently was awarded the 2024 IOC Female Coaches Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded to a coach who has "gone above and beyond in assisting their athletes both on the sporting and the personal side, supporting them through their Olympic journeys". She has coached 13 Olympic medalists, including coaching Tom Daley and Matty Lee to the 10-meter synchronized gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games, as well as guiding Russian duo Vera Ilyina and Yulia Pakhalina to the women's 3-meter springboard synchronized gold medal at the 200 Sydney Olympics.
In total, the 2017 World Aquatics Diving Coach of the Year has led athletes to a combined 11 Olympic medals and 12 World Championship medals. Her divers have won Olympic medals during the 2000, 2004, 2008, 2016, 2020 and 2024 Games, including multiple during four of those competitions.
In her first year as head coach of Tennessee's diving program, she has already led the Vols and Lady Vols to a successful 2025-26 campaign. Bennett Greene took home the gold in the 1-meter at the US Diving Winter Nationals, the first gold medal for Tennessee at the Winter Nationals since Colin Zeng in 2017. Emma Rhines also earned a podium finish at the Winter Nationals, taking third place in the women's 1-meter event.
