Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka Claims Second SEC Runner of the Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For the second time this season, Tennessee freshman Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka has been named Southeastern Conference Runner of the Week following her standout performance at the Gans Creek Classic on Friday, Sept. 26, in Columbia, Missouri.
Competing in just her second race of the year, Ogwoka made a strong push for the individual title and finished runner-up in a field of 237 athletes that included 10 nationally ranked squads. Her time of 19:07.7 marked the second-fastest women's 6k in the nation this fall and shattered the previous Gans Creek Cross Country Course record by more than 40 seconds.
The Vols and Lady Vols have collected three weekly honors from the league office this season under second-year head coach Justin Duncan. Ogwoka and Zouhair Redouane were both recognized on Sept. 2 after sweeping individual titles at the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational to open the 2025 campaign.
