Seven Individuals, One Relay Qualify For 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — Seven individuals and one relay team will represent the Tennessee track & field program next week at the 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor National Championships, as the final accepted entries were released Tuesday night. The nation's top collegians will compete in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
To qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, athletes must rank inside the top 16 nationally in their respective events while relays must rank inside the top 12. In total, Tennessee will send 10 athletes to Virginia Beach to compete in six events.
Layla Anderson • Women's 60m, 60m Hurdles
After scoring a team-high 14 points for the Lady Vols at the SEC Indoor Championships, Anderson will represent UT in two events at the indoor national meet. Her time of 7.98 in the 60-meter hurdles won silver at the conference meet and ranks fifth nationally, while her PB of 7.17 in the 60-meter dash sits 10th in the country.
Myreanna Bebe • Women's 60m Hurdles
The reigning SEC champion in the 60-meter hurdles will return to the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second time in her career and make her first appearance at the indoor national meet as a Lady Vol. Bebe stormed to collegiate leading time of 7.95 to win the SEC title this past weekend, ranking tied for first in the NCAA and 18th on the 2025 world list.
Milan Fields • Women's 60m
In her first season at Tennessee, Fields punched her first ticket as an individual to the NCAA Indoor Championships after qualifying in the women's 60-meter dash. Her season-best of 7.20 seconds was set in the semifinal round at the Tiger Paw Invitational and ranks 13th on the NCAA Division I list for 2025.
Cade Gray • Men's Pole Vault
The top performer from Tennessee's well-rounded men's pole vault squad, Gray qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a jump of 5.60m (18-4.5) at the Razorback Invitational in January. His mark ranks 11th in the country and third on the program's all-time indoor list.
Sarah Schmitt • Women's Pole Vault
The back-to-back SEC indoor silver medalist will make her first appearance at the indoor national meet after clearing a personal-best and school-record mark of 4.46m (14-7.5) in the pole vault at the SEC Indoor Championships. Schmitt's mark ranks 11th on the 2025 collegiate list.
Kiara Smith • Women's 60m Hurdles
One of three hurdlers set to compete for UT in Virginia Beach, Smith qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships after clocking a lifetime-best of 8.10 seconds at the Tiger Paw Invitational. The Lancaster, Texas, native ranks 15th nationally and fifth in program history.
Javonya Valcourt • Women's 400m
After running a lifetime-best 51.73 in the SEC 400-meter semifinals, Valcourt is set to make her first appearance as an individual at the indoor national meet. The 2024 Olympian ranks 12th in the country and second in school history indoors – less than 0.5 seconds off the school record set by DeeDee Trotter in 2004.
Women's 4x400m Relay
The quartet of Esther Joseph, Javonya Valcourt, Brianna White and Cydney Wright had a historic season as Tennessee's A squad for the 4x400-meter relay. The group shattered the school record at the Tiger Paw Invitational with a time of 3:27.60 and came back to earn bronze at the SEC Indoor Championships with a time of 3:27.85. The Lady Vols enter the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked fourth in the country.
UT will begin NCAA Championship action on Friday, March 14 at 2 p.m. ET with Schmitt competing in the women's pole vault. A complete meet schedule can be found at this link.
