Van Kan Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee women's golfer Kyra Van Kan was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Van Kan is coming off a career-best performance at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational where she tied for second and was UT's highest finisher.
In round one of the event, the Johannesburg, South Africa, native carded a 1-under 71 which was one of just two-under par scores in that round. Additionally, the true freshman provided the Lady Vols with their lowest score in each round while also leading the field in par-4 scoring (-2) and total birdies (12).
Van Kan and the rest of the Tennessee women's golf program will be back in action for their fourth tournament of the spring at the Clemson Invitational, which runs from March 28-30.
