Anderson’s 60-Meter Hurdles Title Headlines Saturday At Razorback Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lady Vol junior hurdler Layla Anderson struck gold in the women's 60-meter hurdles final with the second-fastest time in school history, headlining Tennessee track & field's performances as the Big Orange concluded competition at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday.

Anderson clocked in at a personal-best 8.04 seconds for the win, a time that ranks top five in the NCAA and top 25 in the world for the 2025 indoor season.

Senior hurdler Layla Anderson threw down a lifetime-best of 8.04 seconds to win the women's 60-meter hurdles final on Saturday. Her new PR tied Celriece Law (2009) at No. 2 on the program's all-time list, ranks third in the NCAA this season and 24th on the World Athletics toplist for 2025.
Junior sprinter T'Mars McCallum won the 60-meter final with a time of 6.67, his fourth performance of the season below 6.7 seconds after posting a time of 6.68 in Saturday's prelims and back-to-back 6.61 marks at the McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational in early January.
Rookie mid-distance specialist Gavin Genisio claimed his second Tennessee freshman record of the season on Saturday, turning in a time of 4:03.82 in the men's mile to take down Yordanos Zelinski's previous rookie standard of 4:04.99 set in 2023. Genisio also established the men's 1,000-meter freshman record earlier this season with a time of 2:26.15 at the McFerrin 12 Degree Invite.
Tennessee saw two personal-best outings in the shot put competitions on Saturday. Redshirt junior John Bruder heaved a mark of 18.54m (60-10) to place fifth at the meet, while freshman Lady Vol Donna Douglas logged a toss of 15.73m (51-7.25) that ranked her No. 8 on UT's all-time indoor list in the event.
Two Lady Vols clocked in under 53 seconds in the 400-meter dash with season-best performances, led by Javonya Valcourt's 52.42 to place fifth at the meet. Graduate student Cydney Wright posted a sizable PR with her time of 52.69, ranking fifth in school history indoors.
In addition to Anderson's standout performance in the women's 60-meter hurdles, senior Kiara Smith also logged a PR in the final with her time of 8.18 – tying Benita Fitzgerald (1983) as the No. 8 performer in Lady Vol history.
