Simpson Named to Ben Hogan Award Watch List

FORT WORTH, Texas -Â Tennessee golfer Lance Simpson was one of 35 golfers in the nation to be named to the 2025 Ben Hogan Award Watch List, which was announced Wednesday afternoon.Â
The joint announcement was made by the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation, the Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The Ben Hogan Award annually awards the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months. The list includes 16 seniors, 10 juniors and nine sophomores.
Simpson enters the spring with a team-leading 70.17 season stroke average and nine rounds of par or better while also registering three top-five finishes.
The Knoxville, Tennessee, native also is currently ranked 43rd in World Amateur Golf Rankings.
In addition to his strong performances on the collegiate circuit, the redshirt junior posted a top-20 finish at the 2025 Jones Cup and also notched a pair of top-five showings at the 2024 Southern Amateur Championship (T-3rd) and 2024 Northeast Amateur Invitational (T-5th).
