Webb Announces 2024-25 Men’s Golf Schedule
July 09, 2024 | Men's Golf
Roughly two months away from the start of the fall season, Tennessee men's golf head coach Brennan Webb announced the Vols' 2024-25 schedule Tuesday.
"As PGA TOUR U continues to expand the opportunities available to graduating seniors, it is even more important that we schedule in a way that gives our players the best opportunity to set themselves up for success during and after their time here on Rocky Top," said Webb. "The schedule this year sets us up to be as prepared as we can be for The SEC and NCAA Championships, as well as give our upper classmen the best opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of PGA TOUR U."
Tennessee's schedule consists of nine regular season events. UT is set to take part in four fall tournaments, headlined by the Visit Knoxville Collegiate—which will be in its second year of existence.
In the spring, five regular season tournaments precede April's SEC Championships, which are set to be contested at Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course in St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the 24th consecutive year.
Tennessee is scheduled to play tournaments in six different states and will venture outside the United States mainland twice—once to Puerto Rico and once to Mexico.
The Vols' fall slate begins nearby at Tennessee National Golf Club with the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. Last season, the Vols took home the team title in the inaugural tournament and had four golfers finish inside the top-20 individually.
Just over two weeks later from Sept. 21-23, the Valero Texas Collegiate takes place at TPC San Antonio. The three-round event will feature some of the finest college golfers in the country as well as some storied golf programs in the NCAA, with the individual winner of the tournament receiving an exemption into the Valero Texas Open.
Following another two-week hiatus, the Big Orange will tee it up at the Fighting Irish Classic in South Bend, Indiana. The Vols earned the team title in last season's event with two podium finishers individually.
Tennessee's fourth tournament of the fall comes at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate from Oct. 18-20—marking the fifth time in the last six seasons UT has participated in the event.
For the fourth straight season and fifth time in the past six years, Tennessee tees off its spring slate at the Puerto Rico Classic at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, from Feb. 10-12. In both 2023 and 2024, Evan Woosley-Reed was Tennessee's highest finisher in the event after tying for eighth place. Last season, the Vols finished third among a strong field.
After starting the spring in Puerto Rico, the Vols travel to Mexico or the Cabo Collegiate from March 2-4—also marking the fourth straight year in which the Big Orange have competed in that event.
For its third spring tournament, Tennessee heads to the West Coast for the Pauma Valley Invitational, which runs from March 17-18 at Pauma Valley Country Club. Six days after its trip to California, UT makes its way to The Floridian in Palm City, Florida, for the Valspar Collegiate.
In its final regular season contest of the season, Tennessee will take part in The Invitational at the Ford from April 14-15.
A week later, the Vols head to Sea Island Golf Club for the SEC Championships. The Vols finished tied for first in the stroke play portion of last year's SEC Championships.
Tennessee is coming off a 2023-24 season that was highlighted by the program's first top-10 NCAA Championships finish since 1981 along with three tournament titles. Additionally, the Big Orange earned their first ever No. 1 NCAA Regional seed while boasting an overall record of 143-35-1.
Tennessee capped off the past season with a No. 7 overall national ranking and saw Bryce Lewis, Jake Hall and Woosley-Reed earn All-America Honorable mention status. This marked the first time in a single season in program history for three golfers to be tabbed All-Americans. The trio also earned PING All-Southeast Region Honors following their consistent seasons.
Lewis, Hall and Bruce Murphy were all Tennessee golfers to earn SEC Awards last season. The redshirt senior duo of Lewis and Hall took home All-SEC honors and Murphy was slated to the SEC All-Freshman team.
