July 22, 2024 | Men's Basketball, Tennessee Tailored
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its team and individual academic honors for the 2023-24 academic year and the University of Tennessee men's basketball program collected accolades in both categories.
Â
UT achieved the Team Academic Excellence Award, becoming one of just three SEC programs, alongside Auburn and Vanderbilt, to earn the distinction in each of the last three years.
Â
The list recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Â
Tennessee netted the award by virtue of the squad's 3.32 GPA.
Â
Additionally, six Vols earned placement on the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and attend a four-year institution.
Â
Individually, returners Grant Hurst (Recreation and Sport Management) and Jahmai Mashack (Psychology) collected NABC Honors Court plaudits for their academic diligence.
Â
Departing seniors Colin Coyne (Business Administration), Dalton Knecht (Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications) and Josiah-Jordan James (Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications) each garnered the recognition in their final season of collegiate eligibility.
Â
Jonas Aidoo (Journalism and Electronic Media) also made the cut.
