Transfer Vanesa Suarez Set to Join Lady Vols

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior transfer Vanesa Suarez is officially the newest member of the Tennessee women's tennis team, head coach Alison Ojeda announced on Monday evening.
The Valencia, Venezuela, native will join the Lady Vols in 2024-25 with two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
"We are very excited to add Vanesa to our team," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "She will bring some experience to our program and most importantly, she fits the culture we work hard for."
Suarez comes to Rocky Top after spending two seasons at Kansas State, where she was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in the Spring of 2023. During her stint as a Wildcat, she posted a 21-28 singles record while playing primarily at the No. 1 position in one of the nation's premier leagues.
Prior to her collegiate success, Suarez graduated from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico, while training at Credito Real Tennis Center in Yucatan, Mexico.
"We are very excited," associate head coach Matias Marin added. "Vanesa has experience and is the right fit for our culture and team. She will continue to help us elevate our program even higher."
During her tennis career, she has participated in various prestigious events such as the Junior Fed Cup Team, ITF Tournaments and international tournaments. Among her notable achievements, she secured the doubles runner-up position at the J4 Tampico Junior Open in Mexico in 2020. Additionally, she reached the doubles semifinals at the J4 Guayaquil Junior Open in Ecuador in 2019. In 2018, she claimed the title of U16 Singles Champion at the Casely International Championship in the USA.
Suarez is the fifth signee officially announced for the 2024 recruiting class for Tennessee joining, Natalia Perez, Conley Raidt, Brooklyn Schafer and Saray Yli-Piipari.
