April 11, 2024 | General
Every fall and winter sport has contributed points to a fifth-place national ranking
Tennessee Athletics continued its record-setting pace after a strong winter sports season in the updated LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings, released Thursday. Tennessee is ranked No. 5 nationally.
The fifth-place national ranking is Tennessee's best ever after the winter sports season. The previous best was eighth, set last year.
Tennessee leads all SEC schools in the updated standings as well with its No. 5 national ranking.
Since Danny White's arrival as Director of Athletics, Tennessee has become one of the national leaders in the Directors' Cup race. The year before White's arrival, Tennessee was 26th nationally and ninth in the SEC.
Last year, Tennessee locked in its best finish ever at No. 6 in the final Directors' Cup standings. Prior to that finish, Tennessee last posted a top-10 Directors' finish in 2006-07, when it landed at No. 7.
"Proud of our student-athletes!
