Murphy Named SEC Freshman of the Week After Impressive Showing at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee redshirt freshman Bruce Murphy has been named Co-SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Murphy posted a sixth-place finish in a 78-player field at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial after shooting 6-under overall.
The Atlanta, Georgia, native shot a 3-under 68 in the opening round and followed it up with a 4-under 67 in round two. Additionally, Murphy provided three counting rounds for the Vols en route to their team win.
Murphy led the field in par five scoring (-9) and was one of only five players to register two eagles for the event.
Murphy now has two SEC weekly honors to his name. His first weekly award came in February after he won the Wolfpack Individual by eight shots.
