Jacious Sears Qualifies For Two NCAA Sprint Finals

BOSTON – Lady Vol sprint star Jacious Sears booked her trip to a pair of national finals with her performances in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes on Friday as UT kicked off the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships inside the TRACK at new balance.
The senior from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was the fastest qualifier out of the 60-meter semifinal, posting a season-best mark of 7.07 that ranks No. 8 on the 2024 World Athletics toplist. She came back for the 200-meter and turned in a time of 22.70 out of Lane 3, placing sixth overall and punching her ticket to the final.
Lady Vol graduate Dennisha Page made her first appearance at the NCAA Championships, representing UT in the first heat of the 60-meter dash semifinal. The Camden, New Jersey, product closed out her collegiate indoor career with a time of 7.25 seconds, placing 10th and securing second team All-America acclaim.
In the women's 60-meter hurdles semifinal, Lady Vol junior Layla Anderson posted a time of 8.19 in the second heat of the event. The junior from Portsmouth, Virginia, placed 13th overall and collected second team All-America status.
Senior sprinter Javonte' Harding lined up in the men's 200-meter semifinal to kick off the national meet for UT, turning in a 12th-place finish overall with his time of 20.81 seconds. The Prince George, Virginia, native secured his 10th career All-America certificate with second team honors and became the seventh Vol in program history with multiple All-America accolades in the indoor 200-meter dash.
UP NEXT: Tennessee rounds out the 2023-24 indoor season Saturday with the final day of competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The action begins at 5 p.m. ET with Yaseen Abdalla running the men's 3,000-meter and concludes at approximately 8:20 p.m. ET with the women's 4x400-meter relay.
