ATHENS, Ga. – Tennessee's Tanesha Lucoe punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships after a top-seven finish on platform, while Bryden Hattie and Nick Stone each qualified for their second event of the week during day three of the Zone B Diving Championships at Gabrielson Natatorium.
Â
Going into finals, Hattie was fifth (372.80) and Stone was ninth (360.80) on 3-meter. The duo needed to finish inside the top 12 to qualify for NCAAs after punching their tickets to Indianapolis during Monday's 1-meter competition. Both Vols took care of business and secured their spots on both springboard events, as Hattie remained in fifth with a total score of 765.05 while Stone took 10th (713.75).
Â
Owen Redfearn also advanced to finals and finished 18th overall with a combined score of 661.05. Jacob Reasor was 19th overall, just missing a spot in finals. Harper Thornett rounded things out for the Vols, placing 29th behind a 295.75 score.
Â
Finishing up the last qualifying event of the women's competition, Lucoe was third heading into finals on platform after posting a 297.85 effort—a mark that was less than three points off her best score since joining the Lady Vols. She secured her spot to the NCAA Championships by finishing fourth overall with a combined score of 575.65. Because she finished ninth on 3-meter last night, Lucoe also punched her ticket to NCAAs in that event as well.
Â
Also competing in the tower finals, Elle Renner finished 15th with a total score of 480.90. Maddie Reese rounded things out by taking 27th.
Â
Lucoe (3-meter, platform) and freshman Lynae Shorter (1-meter, 3-meter) will compete at the NCAA Championships next week in Athens on March 20-23.
