Lady Vols Finish 26th at NCAA Cross Country Championships

MADISON, Wis. – Racing in near-freezing temperatures in Madison, Wisconsin, the 22nd-ranked Lady Vols capped their 2024 cross country season with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course on Saturday.
First-year head coach Justin Duncan guided the women through a successful season that saw the program place second at the SEC Championships – its best at the conference meet since 2009 – fourth at regionals and qualify for the national meet in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2005-06.
The women garnered four All-SEC and two All-South Region accolades during the year.
In Saturday's national championship 6k race, the Lady Vols were led by junior Ashley Jones who placed 64th overall at 20:20.1. Sophomore Jillian Candelino crossed 156th in 20:51.3, followed by freshman Rebecca O'Keefe who finished 162nd at 20:52.6.
Both sophomores, Caroline Lyerly (20:53.1) and Jaci Sievers (21:08.2) came home 164th and 195th to round out Tennessee's top five.
Running individually for the men, Christopher Middleton-Pearson finished 217th overall in the 10k with a time of 31:07.7.
