
Van Kan In Lead, Lady Vols In Second After One Round at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee women's golfer Kyra Van Kan sits in first after one round at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship as the Lady Vols are tied for second place as a team.
Van Kan opened the tournament with a 2-under 69 and holds a one-shot lead ahead of day two.
The freshman's final hole of the day ended with a tap in birdie after a stellar approach shot landed her three feet right of a tucked left-corner pin.
As a team, Tennessee shot 3-over and enters round two one shot back of Miami.
In her lineup debut, Sofie Engeseth fired an even-par 71 thanks to a solid back-nine performance. The sophomore Monday's round tied for seventh.
Senior Bailey Davis sits inside the top-25 after shooting a 73 on day one.
Manassanan Chotikabhukkana is 3-over through 18 holes and currently sits one shot outside the top 25.
Martina Lopez-Lanchares, who is competing individually, also sits 3-over through one round.
Sophie Christopher, who is also competing as an individual, shot a 75 to open the event.
Sophomore Sophie Bierstorfer shot a 77 and currently sits tied for 48th.
