JaMichael Glass Promoted To Assistant Track & Field Coach

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee director of track & field/head coach Duane Ross announced that JaMichael Glass has been promoted to assistant coach, effective July 1, 2023. The Johnson City, Tennessee, native enters his second year on staff at Tennessee after serving the program as a volunteer assistant during the 2022-23 campaign.
In his new role, Glass will continue to work alongside Ross and assistant coach Ron Garner in developing Tennessee's sprinters, hurdlers and relay squads. He will also collaborate with longtime sports performance coach Barry Cain in the weight room, assisting in all facets of strength and conditioning.
This past season, Glass helped guide Tennessee's stable of sprinters and hurdlers to five school records, 22 All-America certificates and 12 SEC medal-winning performances. Lady Vol track star Jacious Sears stood out as the USTFCCCA South Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and SEC Commissioner's Trophy recipient after locking up conference titles and NCAA bronze medals in both the indoor 60-meter and outdoor 100-meter.
While serving the Big Orange as a volunteer coach, Glass oversaw UT's student managers and assisted with on-campus recruiting efforts. He also worked as a personal trainer at Landing Health and Performance in South Knoxville.
Glass worked with Ross at North Carolina A&T during the 2021-22 season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, overseeing and implementing workouts for both Aggie track & field teams. He traveled to all competitions and assisted with warmups while completing administrative duties.
A USATF Level 1 certified coach, Glass graduated from Milligan (Tenn.) University in May of 2019 with his B.S. in Exercise Science. He served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University from 2019-21, developing workout plans for the swimming, men's volleyball and football teams while complete his Master of Organizational Leadership degree.
