Jackson Drops 10, But USA Falls To Brazil At AmeriCup

LEÓN, Mexico – Tennessee's Rickea Jackson scored 10 points, but the USA came up short in Group A play on Tuesday, falling to Brazil, 67-54, in pool play at the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup.

Jackson was USA's second-leading scorer, tallying double figures on three-of-eight shooting, but the Americans wound up on the short end of the stick after shooting only 30.8 percent from the field and turning the ball over 21 times to the Brazilians.

Jackson's Lady Vol teammate Jewel Spear finished scoreless in two shot attempts in just under 17 minutes of duty.

Brazil's Tainá Paixao went 11 of 11 from the free-throw line and five of 10 from the field to finish with 23 points to lead all scorers in the victory.

The Americans (2-1) will be back in action Wednesday at 2:10 p.m. ET vs. Cuba in the final game of Group A play for the USA side.
