BATON ROUGE, La. — Outdoor postseason gets underway this week for Tennessee track & field as more than 40 UT athletes have traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the 2023 SEC Outdoor Championships. The conference meet runs Thursday through Saturday, May 11-13 at LSU's Bernie Moore Track & Field Stadium.

The meet kicks off for Tennessee with junior Peyton Davis competing in the decathlon at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. Junior thrower Chandler Hayden will open the field events in the women's hammer at 3:15 p.m. before running events start on the track at 6:30 p.m. with Joe Hoots and Will Mazur competing in the men's 800-meter prelims. The first finals of the meet will take place Thursday night with the men's and women's 10,000-meter run at 8:40 and 9:15 p.m., respectively.

Day two begins with the resumption of the men's decathlon at noon before field events start with Ellison Colarossi, Kendall Ford and Sarah Schmitt in the women's pole vault at 5 p.m. Running prelims continue in the evening, beginning at 6 p.m. with five Vols on the track for the men's 110-meter hurdles which includes NCAA Division I leader and SEC favorite Devon Brooks.

The conference championships will wrap up Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. with Tennessee graduate Israel Adesina representing UT in the men's discus throw. Running finals start at approximately 6:05 p.m. with the men's 4x100-meter relay and conclude with the women's 4x400-meter relay at 9:40 p.m.

First-year head coach Duane Ross leads Tennessee into battle with a pair of top-20 squads, with the Vols ranked fifth and the Lady Vols No. 20 in the latest release of the USTFCCCA national track & field rating index. The UT men are the fourth-highest rated team in the SEC, while the women are slotted ninth among conference teams.

FOLLOW LIVE: The 2023 SEC Outdoor Championships will be streamed online all three days via SEC Network+, available at espn.com/watch or the ESPN app. Saturday's evening session will be televised on SEC Network. The broadcast crew includes Dwight Stones, Dan O'Brien, Larra Overton and John Anderson.

BOWERMAN CAMPAIGN CONTINUES: After recently making his fourth consecutive appearance on the men's watch list for The Bowerman Award, Tennessee graduate student Dylan Jacobs will get his first glimpse of outdoor SEC action in the men's 5,000-meter Saturday night at approximately 8:45 p.m. ET. It will be his first 5k competition since winning the indoor national title in March with a time of 13:37.59 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which stands as the fastest time at high altitude in collegiate history.

UP NEXT: Tennessee athletes that post top-48 marks on the NCAA Division I East Region qualifying list will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, for the 2023 NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. The four-day contest will take place at North Florida's Hodges Stadium May 24-27.
