UT 1500m Crew Wraps Up Bryan Clay Invite Saturday Night

AZUSA, Calif. — Tennessee track & field rounded out its trip to the west coast late Saturday night with four athletes running the 1,500-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Lady Vols Brooke Dixon and Carolyn Barksdale each tabbed season-bests in the event, while Canaan Anderson and Yordanos Zelinski represented UT on the men's side and came away with solid opening marks.
Dixon got the night started with a season-best mark of 4:25.02 in the women's invitational sections, while Barksdale competed in the open A sections and took seven seconds off her personal-best with a time of 4:31.32.
Making his outdoor season debut, Anderson turned in a time of 3:43.45 that was just a second off his PR. The UT freshman record holder in the indoor mile, Zelinski ran his first career 1,500-meter on Saturday and stopped the clock at 3:46.97.
UP NEXT: Tennessee will send a small contingent of pole vaulters and distance runners to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday, April 21. The following weekend, UT's regular season will conclude at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 29.
