Brice, Hadley Named to CSC Academic All-America Teams
March 21, 2023 | Swimming & Diving, Men's Swimming & Diving, Tennessee Tailored
Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their performances in the pool as well as the classroom, Tennessee's Luke Brice and Griffin Hadley were named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Academic All-American Teams, tying for the most selections in a single year in program history, the organization announced Monday.
Â
Earning a spot on the CSC Academic All-America Second Team, Brice double majored and earned his bachelor's degrees in History & Geography, finishing with a 3.93 GPA, and is currently completing his master's in Geography, boasting a 3.90 GPA. The 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-America Team selection and three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient. He recently competed at the 2023 SEC Championships, where he placed seventh overall as an A finalist in 100 fly.
Â
Hadley, who was named to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team, is a sophomore in Journalism & Electronic Media and boasts a 3.83 GPA. As a freshman in 2022, he earned a spot on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team and the SEC Academic Honor Roll. In the pool, he competed in nine meets throughout the season with his top times being 47.84 in the 100 back and 1:45.62 in the 200 back. Outside of the pool, Hadley wants to be a sports broadcaster when he finishes college. As a freshman, he earned the opportunity to call the prelims sessions for the 2022 SEC Championships. The following summer, he was the primary broadcaster for the Indiana High School State Championships. He is a current member of the 2023 VOLeaders Class.
Overall, the Vols boast 10 Academic All-America recipients all time. This marks just the second time ever in which the program landed two athletes on the list. Previously, swimming & diving was a part of the at-large category for CoSIDA Academic All-America. This is the first year in which the sport became its own separate category.
