Track Central: 2023 SEC Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Indoor postseason gets underway this weekend for Tennessee track & field as more than 40 UT athletes have traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. The conference meet runs Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25 at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
The meet kicks off for Tennessee with redshirt junior Peyton Davis competing in his fourth SEC indoor heptathlon at 1:15 p.m. ET on Friday. Running events start on the track Friday at 5 p.m. with Canaan Anderson in the men's mile prelims, while the Lady Vol pole vaulting trio of Ellison Colarossi, Kendall Ford and Sarah Schmitt kicks off the field events for UT at 6:15 p.m. Friday evening.
Day two begins with the resumption of the men's heptathlon at 1 p.m. before field events start with freshman Brandon Pottinger making his postseason debut in the men's high jump at 3:15 p.m. Running finals on the track start at approximately 5:05 p.m. with the men's mile final and conclude with the women's 4x400-meter relay at 8 p.m.
First-year head coach Duane Ross leads Tennessee into battle with a pair of top-10 squads, with the Vols ranked fourth and the Lady Vols No. 10 in the latest release of the USTFCCCA national track & field rating index. The UT men are the second-highest rated team in the SEC, while the women are slotted fourth among conference teams.
