Tennessee Basketball – Vols Remain No. 7/8 Nationally

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee men's basketball team retained its position in both major national polls this week, as announced Monday afternoon.
Tennessee (3-0) is once against seventh in the country in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and eighth in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. The Volunteers have now been ranked for 41 consecutive weeks and are in the AP top 10 for the 16th time during that span.
The Volunteers won their lone game last week, notching an 82-61 triumph over Wofford at Food City Center.
Tennessee's point total in both polls stayed nearly identical, as it went from 1,146 to 1,136 in the AP Poll and 560 to 584 in the Coaches Poll.
The Volunteers lead the way among the six SEC teams in the rankings. They are joined by No. 12/13 Texas A&M, No. 16 Kentucky, No. 17/15 Alabama, No. 20/RV Arkansas and No. 25 Mississippi State. Additionally, Auburn and South Carolina are receiving votes in both polls, while Florida is in the Coaches Poll.
Based off the Coaches Poll, Tennessee is one of six top-25 teams in the Allstate Maui Invitational, including one of five in the top 10. The tournament features three top-five teams, including the two atop the list. The Volunteers are alongside top-ranked Kansas, second-ranked Purdue, No. 4/5 Marquette, No. 10/11 Gonzaga, RV/No. 24 UCLA, Syracuse and Chaminade in the field.
Tennessee begins Allstate Maui Invitational action Monday at 2:30 p.m. ET against Syracuse at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, live on ESPN2.
