PREVIEW: Swim & Dive Set to Host Talented Cohort of Teams at Tennessee Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee swimming and diving is set to host the Tennessee Invitational at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center this week, beginning on Wednesday morning and running through Friday night.

The Invitational will feature three days of competition, with each day including events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The event is free to attend for fans, but spectators should be aware of Tennessee's clear bag policy. Fans unable to attend can watch live on SEC Network+ for each session. Live results will be available on MeetMobile.Â

This year, the morning session will feature long-course meter action, while the evening session will consist of short-course yardage events.

UT last competed on Nov. 3 against No. 3/7 Florida and No. 25/19 Kentucky, where the No. 6 Vols beat the No. 25 Wildcats but fell to the third-ranked Gators. The sixth-ranked Lady Vols bested the 19th-ranked Wildcats but lost to No. 7 Florida.

UT's schedule to this point has featured all meets against top-25 programs. UT split a dual to open the season against Louisville, where they defeated the No. 3 Cardinal women but fell to the 12th-ranked men. Down several key pieces due to international competition, the Vols fell to 13th-ranked Texas A&M and the Lady Vols fell to the No. 25 Aggies. Tennessee's challenging slate continued when the No. 6 Vols took on No. 3/7 Florida and No. 25/19 Kentucky, where UT swept Kentucky to help split the double dual.Â

Jordan Crooks and Bryden Hattie Take Home SEC Weekly Awards
Tennessee's Jordan Crooks and Bryden Hattie won SEC Weekly honors after stellar performances last meet against third-ranked Florida and No. 25 Kentucky.Â
Crooks was named SEC Swimmer of the Week after winning three out of his four events during the double-dual meet, including both of his individual events. Hattie was tabbed Co-SEC Diver of the Week after finishing in the top two of both of his events, including a victory on 3-meter.

Crooks' Banner Raised Last Week at Allan Jones
Tennessee raised Jordan Crooks' NCAA Championship banner in the rafters of Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center during last Friday's meet. The SEC swimmer of the year took first-place in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships last season, defeating Florida's Josh Liendo by .08 seconds and the rest of the field by .27 seconds. Crooks also took the SEC Championship in the event, winning by almost a half of a second and becoming just the second collegiate swimmer to join the 17-second club in the 50 free.
