January 28, 2023 | Track & Field, Cross Country
BOSTON — Led by graduate student Jasmine Fehr posting the No. 2 time in Lady Vol history, three members of the Tennessee distance program had impressive showings in the women's 3,000-meter run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
Running her first 3k in more than three years, Fehr finished with a 35-second PR as she crossed the line in 9:09.51 for ninth place overall and the second-best collegiate mark at the meet. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, native was 7.4 seconds shy of the all-time program record established by Jackie Areson in 2011.
Rachel Sutliff also had a top 10 time in Tennessee history Saturday evening, nabbing a 24-second PR with her time of 9:20.34. The sophomore from Grapevine, Texas, moved to No. 9 on the all-time Lady Vol list, ahead of seven-time All-American Chelsea Blaase's 9:20.57 clocking in 2016.
Redshirt sophomore Kayla Gholar rounded out the Lady Vol 3k crew in Boston with a mark of 9:23.04 to place herself as the No. 12 performer in school history. Her time was good for an eight-second personal best.
Sophomore Brooke Dixon also represented the Big Orange in the women's mile, running a season-best 4:48.45 for 22nd place at the meet.
UP NEXT: Tennessee track & field will return to action Feb. 10-11 with athletes suiting up at the Tiger Paw Invite (Clemson, S.C.), Music City Invite (Nashville, Tenn.), BU Valentine (Boston, Mass.) and Millrose Games (New York, N.Y.).
