NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Thursday afternoon that the Tennessee men's and women's cross country squads were recognized as All-Academic Teams, while six UT student-athletes were honored as All-Academic Athletes for their combined performances on the course and in the classroom.
Â
USTFCCCA All-Academic Team awards were presented to cross country programs that boasted a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or above at the end of the 2022 fall semester. The Tennessee women boasted a combined GPA of 3.66, while the men posted a 3.41.
Â
It marks the seventh consecutive season that both squads received the honor.
Â
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Â
