Preseason Fan Event to Take Place Thursday, Oct. 13
Tennessee's men's and women's basketball teams are moving their preseason fan celebration event off campus to downtown Knoxville, as the Vols and Lady Vols will host "Market Square Madness" in the popular Market Square area less than 1.5 miles north of campus on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The one-hour event program is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET. Beginning at 7 p.m. ET, fans can mingle and take photos with Smokey and members of the Tennessee Spirit Squads, face painting stations will be available, on-court contests will be taking place for prizes and DJ Sterl will be hyping up the crowd.

A brief fireworks show will conclude the night's festivities at 9 p.m. ET.
Admission to Market Square Madness is free, and attendees are encouraged to park in the Market Square Garage, State Street Garage or Locust Street Garage—each of those will be free to access after 6 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THE VOLS | ROSTER | SCHEDULE
After winning last season's SEC Tournament and making the program's fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the Vols enter the 2022-23 season riding a 17-game home winning streak.
Returning upperclassmen Santiago Vescovi—a 2022 first-team All-SEC performer—Josiah-Jordan James, Olivier Nkamhoua and Uros Plavsic lead a group of seven returners from last season's squad that also includes SEC All-Defensive Team selection Zakai Zeigler and rising sophomores Jonas Aidoo and Jahmai Mashack.
Tennessee's returning contributors are complemented by five scholarship newcomers—transfer guard Tyreke Key along with high school prospects Tobe Awaka, B.J. Edwards, D.J. Jefferson and McDonald's All-American Julian Phillips.
ABOUT THE LADY VOLS | ROSTER | SCHEDULE
The Lady Vols, ranked No. 4 nationally in one early preseason poll, return four starters and 10 letterwinners from a squad that started 18-1 and finished 25-9 overall and 11-5 in the SEC (3rd). That unit advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen despite season-ending injuries to three key contributors.
Leading the way for fourth-year UT head coach Kellie Harper are All-SEC/All-America Honorable Mention guard Jordan Horston and All-SEC/All-Defensive Team center Tamari Key. Additional regular contributors include returning starters in point guard Jordan Walker and wing Tess Darby, as well as two others with starting experience in 2022 SEC All-Freshman wing Sara Puckett and 2021 SEC All-Freshman forward Marta Suárez.
The Lady Vols also bring aboard four gifted transfers and a five-star freshman, including starters and previous all-league performers in forward Rickea Jackson (Mississippi State), power forward Jasmine Franklin (Missouri State) and point guard Jasmine Powell (Minnesota), as well as a pair of McDonald's All-Americans in sophomore transfer forward Jillian Hollingshead (Georgia) and true freshman wing Justine Pissott.
