Cross Earns PING All-America Honorable Mention

For the second time in his career, Tennessee men's golfer Spencer Cross has been named a PING All-America Honorable Mention, the GCAA announced Tuesday.

Cross was also named an All-America Honorable Mention in 2020, making him just the sixth golfer in program history to have multiple All-American honors. The recognition is Cross' third postseason honor, as he was previously named first-team All-SEC and PING All-Southeast Region.

Cross' selection is Tennessee's third All-America honors under the direction of head coach Brennan Webb—joining Rhys Nevin's selections as honorable mentions in 2020.

In his final season as a Vol, Cross was the most consistent force in Tennessee's lineup. Cross concluded the 2021-22 season with a 69.33 stroke average—the best single-season stroke average in program history. The Sevierville native also finished his Tennessee career with a 71.96 stroke average—currently the third-best career stroke average in program history.

Additionally, Cross' 22 rounds of par or better this season were the second-most in program history.

Cross concluded the regular season with his first career collegiate individual title at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville, Virginia, and followed it up with a tied-for-fifth-place finish in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championships. He was Tennessee's highest finisher in its final six tournaments.

Overall on the season, Cross recorded eight top-20 finishes—including five top-10 finishes.

For his Tennessee career, Cross finished with 62 rounds of par or better and 26 top-25 finishes.
