June 15, 2022 | Swimming & Diving, Tennessee Tailored
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After being tabbed to the all-district squad last month, Tennessee diver Kara Holt was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team on Wednesday.
Â
Holt was joined by fellow Lady Vol Tenika McGiffin from women's tennis on the team, giving Tennessee a program-record-tying nine academic All-Americans for the 2021-22 season.
Â
Boasting a 4.0 GPA in Neuroscience, Holt added her CoSIDA academic recognitions to her already impressive list of academic accolades of two-time CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honoree and two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. The junior diver was a member of the Lady Vols' SEC Championship roster, competing on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform.
Â
The Orlando, Florida, native finished 15th overall on the platform at SECs, making her a B-finalist in the event. Her top marks in each event for the season were: 1-meter (264.75), 3-meter (277.80) and platform (266.10).
Â
Holt is the first swimmer or diver to earn academic All-America recognition since Faith Johnson in 2016. All time, 21 members of the Tennessee swimming & diving program have been honored with the award.
