Lady Vols Fall to Auburn in Match Play Quarterfinals, 4-0-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Tennessee women's golf team fell to Auburn in the SEC Championship match play quarterfinals on Saturday, 4-0-1.
After earning the eighth seed in stroke play on Friday, the Lady Vols began match play competition against top-seeded Auburn in the quarterfinals later that afternoon. Although play was suspended due to lack of daylight, sophomore Vanessa Gilly led the way and was tied with Telfer of Auburn through 10 holes while senior Hadley Walts fell to Schofill, 9&7. Sophomore Kayla Holden won three holes and was down one with seven holes to play while freshman Bailey Davis was down two. Senior Mikayla Bardwell was down three with nine holes left.
Play continued Saturday afternoon, with freshman Bailey Davis fighting back to tie Auburn's Foster on hole 14. A birdie from Foster on hole 17 ended the match, 2&1. Holden fell to the Tigers' Sinz, 3&2 after bogeying her first two holes of the day. The match was suspended upon Auburn earning its needed three points.
