Favour Ashe Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee freshman Favour Ashe has been named SEC Male Freshman of the Week after his debut performance this past weekend at Clemson's Bob Pollock Meet.
Making his first appearance on the indoor track, Ashe threw down the fastest 60m time of the day at the Bob Pollock Meet with his time of 6.58 seconds. The mark catapults him to fourth all-time in Tennessee history, trailing Volunteer legends and NCAA champions Christian Coleman, Leonard Scott and Justin Gatlin on the program's top-10 list.
His time leads the SEC this season and is the fifth-fastest time in the nation. His clocking also ranks 13th in the world for the 2022 indoor season and is second in the world for athletes under 20 years old.
Ashe is the first freshman of the week for the Vols since Emmanuel Bynum won the award on January 21, 2020. It is the first weekly honor for Tennessee this season.
The Vols and Lady Vols are back in action this weekend at the Meyo Invitational and Doc Hale Elite Meet.
