Three Lady Vols Record Top-10 Scores in Program History on Last Day of Auburn Diving Invite

AUBURN, Ala. – Three Lady Vols posted top-10 scores in Tennessee history during the platform event Tuesday on the final day of the Auburn Diving Invite.
Â
Shattering her previous career best in the event, Madison Reese led the way with her 310.15 score ranking third in program history. The sophomore nailed a pair of dives for 65-plus points to earn the second-place finish. Tanesha Lucoe recorded a season-high mark of 280.65, which moved her up to No. 7 in the record books. Grace Cable topped her previous career high thanks to a 276.75 effort to check in at ninth in UT history.
Â
"We had really strong performances today on the platform," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "Maddie was exceptional today along with Tanesha and Grace. It was a great way to finish the week. Maddie's score was 50 points higher than her previous career best, and that's enormous for her. She put together a really strong list, but what's even more encouraging is that she can still improve in several areas. For the week, Maddie did a great job, as she recorded new career bests in all three events."
Â
Rounding things out for Tennessee, Kara Holt posted a 251.65 score to finish 10th, while Elle Renner (223.50) and Bailey Davenport (191.50) came in 11th and 12th, respectively. For the week, the Lady Vols combined to set six personal records.
Â
"Overall, I thought the team competed well," Parrington said. "This was a good opportunity by getting to compete at another pool in a championship-style event. I thought we had some good rounds. On the 1-meter, we did better in prelims than in finals, so there's some stuff we can clean up there. Tanesha looked good on 3-meter yesterday. Several of our divers hit zones scores, so that was great to see and a sign of moving in the right direction. We had a lot of positives coming out of the entire meet. Going back to the 1-meter, Bailey's improvement was fantastic. She got her zone score, which she had not yet done, and she got a career high in the final. She really stepped up. In the 3-meter event, the big positive there was Emily Ann Wolfson getting her zone score by the skin of her teeth. She had to hit her last dive to get it, and that's exactly what she did. We had a lot of season bests this week, and several people just missed hitting that mark in an event. For the whole weekend, I told the divers that I was really encouraged because we train a lot while we are here, and that's really important at this time of year. This is great for our preparation with the championship season coming up in a couple of months. I feel like we accomplished a lot."
Â
Up next, Tennessee diving kicks off the new year with a trip to Athens for the Georgia Diving Invitational on January 3-5.
