Jones Paces Lady Vols at Live in Lou Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – True freshman Andie-Marie Jones paced the Lady Vols Saturday morning at the Live in Lou Classic in Louisville, Kentucky, as she finished 20th overall.
Running in the women's 5K Gold race, Jones got around the course in 17:09.2 to lead the Lady Vols on the day. The Live in Lou Classic marked the third race of the season for the Maryville, Tennessee, native who has been UT's No. 1 finisher two times during the campaign.
Kayla Gholar was close on Jones' heels as she placed 22nd at 17:09.6. Callie Tucker finished third for the women as she crossed the line in 17:35.1 – placing 45th individually.
Brooke Dixon (18:11.3) and Rachel Sutliff (18:11.3) finished 59th and 106th overall as Tennessee scored a sixth-place team finish among the field of 41 teams.
UT was just a single point behind fifth-place Auburn but finished ahead of SEC foes South Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky.

Tennessee will enter an extended training period as it prepares for the 2022 SEC Cross Country Championships. The championships will be hosted by Ole Miss and are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28 in Oxford, Mississippi.
