Taylor Breaks School Record in 60-Meter Hurdles at Bob Pollock Meet

CLEMSON, S.C. – Newcomer Charisma Taylor broke the all-time Lady Vol record in the 60-meter hurdles Friday evening, finishing in 8.01 at Clemson's Bob Pollock Meet.
Taylor's performance currently ranks tied for 10th in the world, tied for third in the SEC and tied for fifth in the NCAA. Taylor opened the meet with a personal best in prelims at 8.06, but improved upon her time in finals with her school-record 8.01.
She broke the previous school record of 8.04 set by Celriece Law in 2009.
KORAKIDIS WINS WEIGHT THROW
In men's weight throw, Georgios Korakidis took home the event title thanks to a heave of 20.76m on his third attempt. It is Korakidis' first event win this season.
On the women's side, Chandler Hayden finished second overall and was the top collegiate finisher in the women's weight throw. Hayden's best throw came on her final attempt as she tossed 20.39m.
FAVOUR ASHE DEBUT
Freshman Favour Ashe made the most of his Tennessee debut as he crossed the line in the men's 60-meter dash in 6.58. His time catapults him to fourth all-time in Tennessee history behind UT greats Christian Coleman (6.45), Leonard Scott (6.48) and Justin Gatlin (6.54).
Ashe was just off Scott's freshman record of 6.56 set in 1999.
Additionally, Ashe's time is currently tied for ninth-fastest in the world, leads the SEC and is sixth-quickest in the nation.
McLEOD AND PINNOCK FINISH 2-3 IN LONG JUMP
In the evening's final event, men's long jump, Carey McLeod and Wayne Pinnock finished second and third for the Vols.
McLeod opened his 2022 season Friday with a best jump of 7.96m, finishing second in the event. Pinnock jumped for the first time this season and placed third with a top distance of 7.92m.
Anthony Riley also competed in the men's long jump Friday night, leaping a distance of 7.55m as he finished eighth overall.
The Vols currently have three long jumpers ranked inside the top-10 nationally. McLeod sits third, while Pinnock is fourth. Jalen Tate ranks eighth after setting a mark of 7.79m at the Virginia Tech Invitational on January 14.
